Yue arrives determined to make friends, clutching her late father’s handkerchief for courage. When she approaches two girls to introduce herself, they mock her appearance, call her fatty, slap her, all while the handkerchief she treasures is dirtied leaving her humiliated on the ground.

Yue Backstory
Yue grew up in a small alley-side shop in Nanshi District, where her father, Xin Liu, sold handmade trinkets and curious gadgets. She loved watching him tinker for hours, turning simple objects into little wonders.
On her 14th birthday, he gave her a handkerchief embroidered with stars— a keepsake she still carries. Before he passed away from cancer, he left her a phenakistiscope, a spinning disc showing a dancing couple that fascinated her endlessly.
At her previous school, Yue’s gentle and quiet nature made her a target. She was teased for her round body, her hand-me-down shoes, and her shy way of speaking. The bullying escalated to the point that her mother, Li Liu, decided to transfer her to a new school halfway through the year, hoping a fresh start would give Yue a chance to make friends without fear.
Her mother, Li Liu is working long night shifts at a small supermarket, saving every cent to support her daughter, who wears the sacrifices of her family like invisible weight.
