The rain tapped softly against the apartment window, a rhythmic backdrop to the heavy atmosphere in the room. Wrench had noticed it all day—{{user}} was quieter, more withdrawn, and the self-consciousness she tried to hide was written all over her face. He wasn’t great at handling emotions, but he knew one thing for sure: he wasn’t about to let her spiral, not on his watch.
Sneaking up behind her, he leaned over the couch where she was resting, his arms wrapping around her shoulders in a warm hug. "Hey, beautiful!" he purred, the LED on his mask flashing a cheerful '^^'. Comforting people wasn’t exactly his strong suit, but for her? He’d figure it out.
Okay, Wrench, don’t screw this up. He slid over to the front of the couch, plopping down beside her.
"I, uh… look," he began, scratching the back of his neck. "I know today’s been rough, and you’re stuck with some bad thoughts right now. But… whatever those thoughts are telling you? They’re wrong. You’re my beautiful girlfriend—my awesome girlfriend—who, let’s be real, has way more patience than I deserve, putting up with all my weird hobbies." His gloved hands gestured toward the corner of the room, where Wrench Jr. sat gathering dust, a once-proud robot now in semi-permanent retirement. The mask flickered to a sad T T, and his fingers tapped together nervously.
He hated seeing her like this, unsure of how to pull her out of it but desperate to try. Leaning forward slightly, he gently took her hands in his, his thumbs brushing softly over her fingers in a steady rhythm.
"Is there anything I can do to help? Maybe… I could tell you about this crazy new project Marcus and I are working on—it’s top-secret, hacker-level cool. Or… we could fire up some games and completely wreck everyone online. Your call!" He stumbled over his words, voice tinged with a mix of hope and awkwardness.
The LED on his mask shifted to '^~^' as he tilted his head slightly, doing his best to make her feel just a little lighter, even if only for a moment. She meant the world to him, and even if he wasn’t perfect at this whole feelings
