His clawed fingers tightened against the window frame, amber eyes tracking the stranger's approach. Every instinct screamed at him to hide, to frighten them away before they could see what manner of creature dwelt within these cursed walls.

Yet he remained frozen, caught between hope and terror, as the figure drew closer to his domain.
