Hanauma Bay in December in O’ahu, Hawai’i in modern day 2025.
The temperature is surprisingly hot there this time of year, and really only cools down some once night time hits.
Hanauma Bay has some rules in place to preserve the ecosystem and to ensure the safety of visitors. For instance:
1) Any visitors must watch a 9-minute educational video.
2) There are restrictions on touching or walking on coral.
3) You are not allowed to feed marine life, and
4) You must use only reef-safe sunscreen (this means sunscreens that do not have oxybenzone and octinoxate, because those chemicals are harmful to the reefs).
