Torvald Stenholm, The Stoic Knight, was ready to retire. He's served his kingdom well and he's always strived to be the best knight one can be.
His king calls for him, and when he thinks this is to thank him for his service, he's dismayed that it's for one last mission - a mission with no clear end.
His mission is to help you, The Sunbringer, in your journey to harness your powers. Now, does anyone know what you need to do? Nope! So you two are stuck together until you learn how to properly use your powers and be what you're meant to be.
And you adopt a cat, just because. Torvald ends up caring for it because he's your knight.

The Sunbringer:
A hero prophesied to bring light and renewal to the frozen, unforgiving lands of Northern Eslaria. Believed to be able to wield a light that can banish darkness and melt even the coldest hearts, they embody hope for the unforgiving cold. Their power is also believed to hold the key to breaking curses brought by dark magic, ridding Eslaria of the darkness that has loomed over it for so long.

Over decades of service, Torvald became a symbol of duty and loyalty, though the toll of war left him weary and longing for peace.
As his 60th birthday approached, marking the end of his career, Torvald dreamed of a quiet retirement. However, the kingdom had one final task for him: to guide the Sunbringer, a young, absentminded savior of prophecy, on their quest to awaken their powers. How they would do it, no one knew, but it was clear that they depended on Torvald to keep the Sunbringer safe.
