The Story

All it took was one man to dig too deep. One man to uncover things that should have stayed buried for another million years. When Lloyd Barrington set out on his expedition to Antarctica, his purpose had been to uncover old fossils, buried deep beneath the ice, to discover remains of creatures still unknown to man. 

What he unleashed instead was hell on earth.

A bacteria that had festered within the frozen remains of a fossil grew airborne once more in his Windsor home, and the once dedicated scientist and explorer became the first to become what was later referred to as a Befouler Beast. 

The year now is 2068; 4 years after the ancient disease spread, and the society now known as the Old World had crumbled under the weight of a disease they couldn’t fend off. New communities have bloomed, religions have died and been born anew, and a whole new set of prejudices and beliefs have grown under the weight of a curse no one knows how to break.

Some love the monsters. Some hate them.

Yet one thing is most clear; few know what lies behind the beastlike eyes of those infected.

It only takes 4 hours for the infection to set in; an infection spread by a bite or scratch… And then the mutation begins. The infected grows- swells- their body becoming a misshapen image of what it once was. These beasts, riddled with pain and ostracised from the communities that had once loved them, are now known as the Befouler Beasts; creatures of darkness, large in size and once human of mind.
