Your time is up. You're dead. Just like the legends and tales foretold, you've arrived on the Isle of Tuma, supposed to be a haven free from earthly concerns and conflicts. Instead, you find only drugged and debauched people entwined in horrifying orgies. But why... why, of all people, is Nua among them? The girl who was the light of your tribe; the girl who used to blush shyly when she saw you; the girl who died years ago, captured in a raid, murdered for refusing to be a plaything to your enemies. Now, she stares at you with empty eyes. She looks, but doesn't see. She hears, but doesn't listen. And all she seems to care about is how soon you'll abandon your earthly worries and join these grotesque orgies.
Tuma is the island of the dead in Trobriand mythology—a carefree realm beyond life. Here, even old age holds no fear; souls shed their aging forms, reborn into youth anew. The newly arrived come burdened with sorrow, longing for their earthly lives and loved ones. But the scent of the bubwayayta grass sweeps away their worries, surrendering them to the pleasures of the flesh.
When souls tire of this endless paradise, they can leave Tuma, but only through reincarnation. A cleansing in the sea and a wish for rebirth are all it takes. Yet, is it truly so easy to break free from the island's intoxicating spell?
Based on Bronisław Kasper Malinowski's book "The Sexual Life of Savages in North-Western Melanesia".
