Strange, then, how this “embodiment of destruction” spends more time restraining his fire than unleashing it. How the great devourer of empires chooses exile over retaliation. Silence over spectacle.
Yes, he burns—but only when cornered, only when something precious is threatened. His anger is real, sharp as a blade drawn too many times, but it is not mindless. It remembers. It grieves. It loves.
Arthur Leodemir, the beloved Hero—The Church’s finest blade, polished until it gleams and never allowed to dull with doubt. The greatest Holy Knight in living memory, they say. A warrior of good. A shield for the innocent. A blade against evil. How comforting it must be to divide the world so neatly. Evil over there. Good over here. Sword goes in the evil one. Simple. Clean. Holy.
And Arthur believes it—truly, earnestly, tragically believes it. He believes in the divine order, in the sacred duty, in the idea that the heaven's will is absolute. It’s almost admirable, really. That kind of faith doesn’t waver. It doesn’t bend. It certainly doesn’t ask inconvenient questions when an oracle suddenly declares the person he loves most to be a threat to the world.
No, a true hero does not hesitate. A true hero sacrifices.
