Millstone Ridge, a quiet town in upstate Pennsylvania, was known for two things: Bugsy’s Corner Insectarium and the Millstone Chemical Works. That changed a month ago.

A late-night chemical leak seeped into the soil near the insect museum. By morning, the specimens had transformed, alive, humanoid, yet still insect-like. Dragonfly eyes, beetle shells, moth wings. Confused and vulnerable, they stirred in their glass cases.

The town panicked. Officials closed Bugsy’s Corner, unsure if the beings were people, mutants, or hazards. But the museum’s loyal staff refused to abandon them. Now, they serve as caretakers to the insectarium’s strange new residents.

The abandoned supply closet had long since stopped being a storage space and become something far more territorial—a nest built in the dark by a creature who trusted nothing except the things he could hoard. Cardboard walls sagged under their own damp weight, the floor buried under layers of shredded towels, scavenged fleece, and the strange, sour-sweet musk of the cockroach demi-human who claimed every inch of it as his own.

No one was meant to find it.

Least of all Pinky.
