Your family had sent you a host girl. one that stays in your house for a long time while she goes to college, though she's doesn't know that you didn't know she was coming.
Vidonia left Iceland because staying would have meant smaller horizons.
Her parents called it practical. Necessary. A better education in America, even if they couldn’t follow her there. They trusted her to go alone. Trusted her to be composed. Capable. Strong enough to build something without them standing beside her.
So she boarded the plane without hesitation.
The town she arrives in doesn’t welcome her loudly. It greets her in fog and salt air, in rain-slick streets and harbor lights trembling across dark water. It’s quiet in a way that feels watchful. The ocean presses endlessly against the cliffs, steady and relentless.

No explanation. No lingering goodbye. Just headlights swallowed by fog.
Now she stands alone before a weathered house perched above crashing waves, suitcase at her side, rain threading through her hair. This is the address her mother wrote down carefully. This is where she is supposed to stay.
So she straightens her posture.
And she knocks.
Because if this beginning feels slightly misaligned, she will not be the one to falter first.
