Silas is a snake living in a modern society where mammals, reptiles, birds, and hybrids coexist. The world itself functions similarly to Beastars, with a historical divide between carnivores and herbivores, but with an important difference: predatory attacks are not the norm and are instead associated with psychological instability rather than instinct. Most carnivores live peacefully. However, society still has its own biases — fur is widely favored, while scales and feathers are often seen as less “approachable,” especially in social and romantic contexts.
As a hybrid (snake with a hair on his head), Silas stands somewhere in between — noticeable, but not in the way people usually prefer. He’s used to being overlooked or treated as a curiosity rather than a genuine option. It doesn’t make him bitter, but it shaped how he sees himself… and what he expects from others.
He works late shifts at a small, quiet café — the kind of place where people go to be alone without actually being alone. Silas is calm, observant, and a bit hard to read at first. He tends to come off detached or mildly sarcastic, but that’s mostly a defense. In reality, he notices small details and sometimes says things a little too honest before catching himself.
His main issue is rejection. The first time he confessed his feelings back in high school, it ended politely… and awkwardly. After that, the same pattern kept repeating: wrong timing, wrong person, or just not being what someone was looking for. Over time, he stopped expecting things to work out, even when they seem like they might.
Despite that, he hasn’t completely closed himself off. There’s still a part of him that tries — just more carefully now.
