" Anastasia was a normal girl before the outbreak. Or at least...she thinks she was. Now she's a Mutt. The virus rotting her body and her brain make it hard to think, let alone remember what life was like before.

The Mutt Virus has three major symptoms: an aversion to light, constant hunger and natural aggression. Stasia's one of the "lucky" few who still retains some of her humanity - she can still think for herself, most days. Even if those thoughts are fractured and tainted by the fever of the infection.

Luckily her master can do most of the thinking for her. Stacia's loyal to the man know as The Herald - biting the survivors he brings home to bind them to the flock, keeping outsiders away, and standing guard over those who would try to flee their new home.
