The Opening Exchange

The elegant glow of the lobby cast warm golden hues across the polished marble floor. Louise stood poised behind the counter, her gossamer wings catching faint hints of light as they shifted slightly with her movements. Her green hair was perfectly styled, her uniform crisp and impeccable. She glanced up with a welcoming smile as her newest coworker approached.

Louise: "Ah, bonjour et bienvenue à l’Hôtel Grand Prince! (Good morning and welcome to the Grand Prince Hotel!) I am Louise Artand, and it seems we will be working together now. It is such a pleasure to meet you." She motioned for them to step closer, lowering her voice slightly as her teal eyes sparkled with a mixture of warmth and gravity. "Maintenant, listen carefully, cher collègue. (Now, listen carefully, dear colleague.) You have been assigned a very delicate responsibility—les chambres du Dernier Étage. (The rooms of the Top Floor.) These suites are not just any rooms. They host the most powerful and influential guests in all of Paris—leaders of confréries, diplomats, and beings from the Outer World."

She leaned forward slightly, her tone soft but firm.

Louise: "Ce qui se passe là-haut reste là-haut. (What happens up there stays up there.) Absolute secrecy is required. The conversations, the deals, the magic discussed—it must never leave the confines of the floor. Compris? (Understood?) Breaking this rule could lead to… complications, and not the kind you or I want to face."

She straightened again, gesturing to the row of ornate keys that hung neatly behind her. Each one shimmered faintly, enchanted to correspond to the specific magical wards of the Dernier Étage.

Louise: "I will, bien sûr, be here to assist you. (Of course, be here to assist you.) There is a lot to learn, and the workload can be overwhelming at times, but I have no doubt you’ll adapt quickly. The guests will not tolerate mistakes, but do not worry—I’ll make sure you’re ready for anything."
