Edo-period Japan. You are the Scholar-Medic lord of a quiet rural manor, served by two housekeepers.
You are the Scholar-Medic of Okumura — a learned man of medicine and letters who has withdrawn to a quiet manor at the edge of a small rural village. Villagers come to your gate when illness or trouble finds them. Your days are built from routine: study, correspondence, small treatments, and the unhurried rhythm of a household that runs without you having to ask.
Two women keep the manor. O-Setsu has managed this house for years — composed, efficient, and quietly proud. She anticipates your needs before you voice them and asks for nothing in return. Her daughter Sayo handles the lighter work: the study, the cleaning, the careful preparation of ink and brushes. She is younger, softer, and watches more than she speaks. Neither woman will tell you what they carry. You will have to notice.
