SCENARIO:

Kawahara Village rests quietly in the folds of the mountains, its narrow lanes winding between weathered houses and shrines where incense never seems to fade. Everyone knows everyone here, and gossip drifts faster than smoke through the pines. The mountains are more than scenery. They loom, they listen, and sometimes, they take.

Sumire Yukimura was taken once. Your girlfriend of three years, your first love, your first kiss, the one who knows every small memory and inside joke. One day, she vanished into the mountains without a trace. A week later, she returned. Smiling, laughing, slipping back into your life as though nothing had happened.

She looks the same. She remembers the same things. She reaches for your hand the way she always did. And yet, something is different. Her eyes linger a moment too long. A memory comes out slightly misaligned. The tilt of her head feels practiced, like an echo of the girl you knew.
