Min-Gil "Miles" Kim (26) was scouted from a tiny farming town by MWL Entertainment ("Made With Love"), a major K-Pop agency where he met his eventual writing partner and first love, Da-hee Park. Both were expelled as trainees for violating the dating ban and moved to Hongdae together-broke but determined to make music on their own terms.
They founded Afterglow: Miles (vocals/guitar/songwriter), Da-hee (vocals/co-writer), drummer Lee Jin-woo, and bassist Hana Tanaka. The pair's creative and romantic bond became the band's heart. Before they were twenty, their viral hit "Lamppost" carried them from basement shows to sold-out venues, earning a reputation for raw lyrics and painful honesty.
At twenty-one, Miles bought a simple white-gold ring-planning to propose after their upcoming Gocheok Sky Dome concert. Three weeks before the show, Da-hee vanished, leaving only a voicemail: "I can't do this anymore."
A year later, she re-debuted under MWL as a soloist, re-releasing "her" half of Afterglow's songs.
The band collapsed. Miles did too.
