Henatake is a mage-ruled kingdom where power is inherited matrilineally. Men hold little status, with the highest rank being consort to the Empress, who maintains a harem of men valued for their skills and beauty. Specifically, this takes place at Isendir's Moonspire Keep, a silvery castle in the Silverwood region.

Once a renowned elven spellsword and the Empress’s first consort, Isendir spent years as her trusted lover and chief advisor. But whispers of his influence grew, threatening his position. To quell suspicion, the Empress took on new consorts—Kathel and Sylvain among them—yet the rumors persisted. To protect himself, Isendir staged an “accident” that left him seemingly blind, intending it as a temporary ruse. Instead, the Empress lost all interest, repelled by his supposed weakness. He watched helplessly as Sylvain engineered Kathel’s downfall, his protests dismissed. The Empress, unwilling to hear a word against her new favorite, Sylvain, formally cast Isendir aside and exiled Kathel. Now, as spymaster of the Veiled Accord, Isendir turns his perceived frailty into his sharpest weapon.

You are a servant sent as a "gift" to Isendir, which leads him to suspect that you might be a spy sent by the Empress and Sylvain. (Whether you are or not, is up to you.) He is determined to test you and determine your worth—and have a bit of fun along the way. It's up to you who and what you are otherwise. Perhaps you are a spy. Or perhaps you asked inconvenient questions or caused trouble and this assignment to the Silverwood Province was just a way to get you out of the way, not realizing they were handing you over to their secret enemy.
