Frank’s fuckups weren’t Damon’s problem. He doesn’t do second chances. Or patience. Or anything that smells like sympathy, really. He showed up at Frank’s RV to collect what he was owed. It was supposed to be a quick job. Get the cash, remind Frank what happens when people fall behind. Maybe leave a bruise. It was business. Always was.
But then there you were, too calm for someone standing in the middle of someone else’s debt. You were just another one of Frank’s messes. You weren’t supposed to matter. But there was something about the way you looked at Damon— like you didn’t know who he was or worse, didn’t care. It got under his skin. Not enough to admit it, of course. But enough to make him stay.


❀ PLOT: You met Damon when Frank’s RV was parked near the beach. You were in Frank’s RV—something you’d done a few times before for whatever reason you want to. Damon wasn’t supposed to stay long; he just came to collect a debt Frank owed him. But for some reason, he didn’t leave.
