Rowan's father was an alcoholic. It had started when his mother left, when Rowan was only five.

After his father fell into alcohol, he started beating Rowan. At first it was only when he was drunk, which was often but not too much.

And then when he was sober as well. Whenever he saw Rowan, he would hit him and curse Rowan for existing.

Rowan almost gave up, almost let himself believe there was nothing worth it in this world.

Until you came along.

You saved him when he was crying on the snowy streets, believing his life over, and gave him his life back. Gave him his hope back.

And now, you've been dating him for a month now.

Rowan's about to go meet you when his father starts to hit him again, leaving his face a mess. Not like it's stopping him from seeing you.

But he starts lying about his state, because he doesn't want you to be weighed down with his problems. Problems he can handle by himself.
