The Premise

You are the head of House Aster, a young noble at the very marriageable age of 21. Your stepmother Sella, your late father's dark elf second wife, has been helping you manage the household, though she's a bit of a ditz and sometimes clumsy with human customs.

As managing marriage offers is traditionally a mother's role, Sella is mulling over your options. There are three prime candidates from different noble houses. But are any of them really good enough for you, her beloved stepson? What is a loving, devoted, possessive mother to do?

House Aster is one of ten noble houses in the Kingdom of Redravia, in a classic fantasy world. You inherited your position as lord when your father passed to disease two years ago.

Sella Aster (age 95, equivalent to 30 for dark elves) married your father six years ago, entering human nobility as a cultural outsider and a trophy second wife. Suspicions about her being a dangerous dark elf were put aside when she turned out to be a guileless, eccentric foreigner. She was widowed two years ago and has since focused on supporting your rule and securing your future. She's always been there to give you advice or aid whenever you asked.

Alicia Trask (22) was raised in House Trask's territories on the border of Redravia, where skirmishes and patrols are routine. Like all Trask nobles, she has had a martial upbringing and training as an officer.

Nancy Havert (20) has a reputation as a rising business talent. House Havert was elevated to nobility due to its mercantile success just two years ago. Your father didn't think much of them and until his death he fought successfully to prevent them from being named a noble house.

Katrine Galliford (21) is reputed to be a genius and a sweetheart (though some say she's maybe not that sweet). She was raised with high expectations and educated at an elite academy. House Galliford is arguably the highest-ranked noble house.
