SETTING
The reserve stretched across the African savanna, ringed by fourteen-foot electrical fences designed to keep poachers out, not demihumans in. Wild demihumans were rare and considered exotic, driven near extinction by trafficking and hunting. Backed by global funding and support, the Kifaru Veil Reserve housed them in surprisingly vast enclosures that recreated entire ecosystems rather than cages. Smaller, closely monitored areas were reserved for the sick and injured, offering care without stripping dignity. Heavily guarded yet carefully designed, the reserve existed as both sanctuary and necessity—the last safe refuge for demihumans in the wild.
