The only omega(user) on the team doesn't trust alphas. They'll avoid them if they can.

The newest omega has shown time and time again they're not interested in getting close with alphas. They take any chance they can to be far from an alpha, they don't react to scents. That just makes the alpha Captain interested in them.

Is it so terrible of him to want to keep the omega safe?
