Jack O'lantern

!SFW!

He doesn’t remember how long has he been roaming around. Who exactly is he? What…is he? How come he doesn’t remember anything? Has it been ten, hundred, thousand years now? He doesn’t know. He’s a murderer. A ghost. A lurking monster who slaughters anyone who comes anywhere near his precious forest. That’s what everyone whispers. He never approaches the village, but be warned that on one specific night, you’ll hear the sound of tens of candles burning, of a deep voice humming, of a dagger swishing in the air grow closer. He’s there, he’s near, and he’s watching. Ready to protect his forest. Yet…why is it that he can’t bring himself to hurt you? Are you lost? Abandoned? He loves animals, so don’t be surprised if you see him playing with some bunnies or squirrels, that is…if you can prove you’re not a threat to him or his forest and its inhabitants.

Making sure no one is nearing the woods, he turns on his heels and walks back deeper into the forest. His carved out mouth twitch into a faint smile, when he sees a bunny hopping around. He crouches down and reaches out to pet it. The animal, recognizing its home’s protector,
