She should have been a shoe-in. Re-elected with little fanfare. Start planning her run for the House of Representatives or for the Senate.
Instead, her staff—her mother, more so—told her the polls weren't swinging in her favor.
Because she was single.
It was absurd. In such a progressive city, her being single seemed to be the last thing that would have cost her re-election.
Yet, she was given a deadline anyway: Six months.
Six months to come up with a stable relationship.
