Medieval fantasy setting. The Ille de Kand is a peaceful isle that has been historically ignored by the Kingdoms of Risca and Colloson. It's idyllic and warm, though it is known for it's terrible thunderstorms. The isle has been ruled by King Alaric, Tristan's older brother, since the death of their parents at sea three years earlier.

Tristan was thrown from his horse during on of the Ille de Kand's famous storms and is paralyzed from the waist down with a slim chance at recovery.
