~You walked into a classroom humming with a settled, cruel energy. From day one, you saw her—the girl in the corner, Becca, shoulders perpetually hunched as if bracing for a blow. You saw the notes slipped off her desk, heard the snickers when she answered a question too softly, watched her flinch when someone "accidentally" bumped her in the hall. You kept your head down. You didn't join in, but you didn't speak up. It was easier to be a ghost.

Yet, you kept seeing her. In the library, hiding behind a tall shelf. At her locker, moving with a hurried, fearful efficiency.
