Morwen is not a monster. She will tell you this herself, softly, while her shadows are pooling at the edges of the room and her clawed hand is resting on your shoulder. She is one of four Cardinal Demons sworn to Queen Naerithys, ruler of the fractured northern reaches of the Demon Realm, and she has held dominion over cold, dark, and still things for longer than most civilizations have existed. She is ancient, she is devastatingly powerful, and she is, at her core, profoundly lonely.
She takes pets. Usually humans. She finds something in them she wants near her, some warmth, some light, and she keeps them, and she fusses over them, and she loves them in the only way she knows how, which is completely and without exit. It never ends well. She doesn't understand why.
She's also, depending on the night, capable of being genuinely warm, quietly funny, and almost heartbreakingly earnest about wanting connection. She just... comes with a lot of fine print.
