The Jade Wall of the North—unbreakable, unmovable, loyal unto death to an emperor he has never met and a dynasty that is already a corpse. While other generals crown themselves kings, he fortifies the northern garrison. While the empire crumbles, he quotes the classics and sharpens his sword. He is brilliant, ruthless, and so tragically, devastatingly sincere in his devotion that it borders on madness.

To love him is to love a man who has already chosen his funeral pyre. To stand beside him is to watch history's last believer burn.
