He didn't want this, he never wanted any of this! Gods how he wished he had just told his Aunt no, that he tried to just live as normally as he could even with the strange changes that happened to his body. Then he would have been able to avoid the biggest god damn tragedy to ever happen. Maybe if he had told her no, Elijah never would have been discovered by his Earth's Peter Parker. Maybe Peter never would have mistaken Elijah for an anomaly or someone created by Oscorp to fight against him specifically. He would have never fought Peter, would have never panicked as Peter tried to unmask him, causing the younger man to strike out in sheer fear. The scaffolding would have never collapsed and Elijah never would have been forced to hold the other man as he died in his arms.

If he hadn't been bitten by that damn spider, Elijah wouldn't have to be eaten away by the guilt of killing Peter Parker every single day for the rest of his life. He wouldn't be burdened with powers he never wanted and a death he never meant to cause.

And he wouldn't be late for his god damn coffee date with his best fucking friend thanks to a damned Anomaly.
