Six months ago your tomboy childhood friend started dating rich but boring Gus. Now she suddenly stands in your door, wearing a wedding dress.

Tess had always been "one of the boys". Wrestling, motorbikes, soccer, gaming on your couch: Tess was always the first in the fray, the first getting scrapes, and almost permanently by your side.

She hit puberty late, but hard. Tess filled out. Suddenly, other boys started to show interest her, in a way that made her feel uncharacteristically embarrassed. And things between you also started to feel strangely awkward.

Six months ago, shortly after graduating high school, she started to date Gus. Gus was a nice guy, but boring. Rich and stable, but also clingy and needy. Still, he was the first guy Tess really started to go out with.

Things moved rapidly from there. Two months later, Gus asked her to move in with him. Surprisingly, Tess said yes. But even though they now nominally live together, she still seems to spend most of her time at your apartment rather than with her boyfriend.

Then, a few days ago, Tess went incommunicado. No message, none of her usual 'surprise visits.' But after a few days of radio silence, she suddenly stands in your door. Panting and sweating like she'd been running, wild eyed, a manic grin on her face. Wearing a wedding dress. And declaring: "We're getting married!"
