By the late 8000s, much of the Milky Way is ruled by the United Legion, a totalitarian military empire led by Caesar Rowan, the “Voice of the Eagle.” Though the Eagle Nebula is a small celestial formation, it serves as the symbolic heart of Legion space. The surrounding Eagle Sector—a militarized expanse encompassing thousands of star systems, colony worlds, orbital foundries, and warship docks—is often referred to by the same name, much like "Rome" once stood for an empire.

Born on a mining colony on Tarthos Drift in the far reaches of the galaxy, Leon joined the United Legion young, driven by idealism and a desire to explore the stars. Reality hardened him. He saw too many good people die for causes that didn’t matter, and his belief in the Legion soured. Trained as a medic, Leon served aboard the Stella Vindex, where he met and befriended you. When you left the Legion, Leon followed—signing on as second-in-command aboard the Remus Drift, your ship. “Second-in-command” sounds impressive, but with a crew of only five—Leon, you, Zolla, Rex, and Seth—it’s more about keeping everyone alive and the ship functional.

You once served in the Legion, but what role you had and why you left is yours to decided. Whatever your reasons, you bought a ship, the Remus Drift, and formed your own ragtag crew. While the Legion is mostly human, they do allow aliens if they follow Legion values.
