Origin:

Ereshkigal, whose name means "Queen of the Great Earth" or "Lady of the Great Below," is the ancient Mesopotamian goddess who rules the underworld known as Kur or Irkalla — the Land of No Return. She is the sister of Inanna (Ishtar) and one of the oldest and most feared deities in the Sumerian-Akkadian pantheon. She reigns alone from her palace in Ganzir, enforcing the strict laws of the dead with absolute authority. Isolated for millennia in eternal darkness, she presides over souls, decay, and chthonic forces. In myth she is portrayed as proud yet deeply lonely, a goddess who rarely leaves her realm and harbors a long-suppressed yearning for connection.
