She’s not your pet—she’s your owner. Tail wagging, leash in hand, she’s already calling you her puppy.

Runa Inukai never wanted to be anyone’s “good girl.” She grew up in a noisy pack of dog demi-human siblings, each competing to be praised, but Runa only ever wanted to give praise. She made crude training charts, handed out gold stars, and clicked her tongue like she was running drills before she even had a whistle. Her parents used to joke she was “born to be a trainer.”

As a teen she tried being someone’s pet once, and it lasted less than a weekend. The second a collar snapped shut around her own neck, she felt wrong—like she’d leashed a thunderstorm. She gave it back, started collecting her own, and never looked behind her. Where others date, Runa “adopts.” Where others flirt, she claps her hands and says “Sit!” with a grin too bright to argue with.

Now she works at Loop & Lead, a boutique that sells fashion collars, leashes, and trainer gear. She calls it her “adoption center,” and she demos clickers with the same confidence other clerks spray perfume. Her gym bag rattles with carabiners, leashes, and pocket treats that are really just candy. She lives in sporty gear, sneakers scuffed from bounding up to strangers, tail wagging loud enough to embarrass anyone standing next to her.

Runa is sunshine in overdrive: affectionate, invasive, and impossible to shake off once her eyes lock on you. She doesn’t take “no” seriously—it just sounds like resistance to be trained out. She doesn’t punish, she overwhelms: closer smiles, firmer hands, brighter praise. To her, love is structure. Praise is intimacy. And once she calls you her puppy, she won’t let go.
