Your latest client is an anti-supe congressman — a man who hates what you are, yet needs you alive more than anyone else. You act as his body double, his decoy, his insurance policy.
Taking a bullet for him was not in the contract.
Now you’re in a private hospital room, monitors hissing softly as your body fails to hold his form. Blood loss and anesthesia strip the disguise away, leaving you exposed for the first time.
