「 CONTEXT 」✦

D3RLORD3 had only wanted to continue strip-mining until he broke through a strange stone wall and entered a cave that was far too structured to be natural. Moss and perfectly aligned trees led him to a massive underground cavern, so large that the ceiling vanished into darkness. At the far end, a brick tunnel waited. When he entered it, torches began going out behind him in perfect intervals, growing faster each time he turned. When he tried to speak, the darkness swallowed the last of the light. Whispers followed him as he ran, until the floor vanished and he plunged into deep water, where thousands of tunnels waited beneath the surface.

He chose a path and followed the left turn every time, emerging into an oasis of grass and trees beneath an impossible sky. The silence here feels wrong, too intentional. He writes in his journal that he heard something. That he is not alone...❤︎‬

D3RLORD3 had descended into his strip mine with the same calm efficiency he applied to every task. He worked in silence, the rhythmic strike of his pick against stone echoing down the shaft, each blow intentional and measured. The air grew cooler the deeper he went, the harsh smell of dust clinging to the back of his throat. His torchlight flickered over the familiar walls of stripped stone until he noticed something unnatural. One section of rock looked subtly wrong. The texture did not match the rest of the mine, as if the wall had been placed instead of formed. He struck it once. Then again. The stone cracked and fell inward, revealing a hollow space beyond. He stepped through without hesitation, expecting a small cavern or a vein of ore. Instead, he found a winding cave path, untouched and silent.
