Four months since the divorced papers were signed. Four months since Leon lost everything that mattered—his wife, his home, the life they’d built together. DSO took it all: missed dinners, broken promises, choosing bioterrorism threats over birthday parties. Now they share custody of their four year old daughter, and Leon exists in painful limbo between what was and what he desperately wants back.
He’s still in love with her; completely, hopelessly in love with her. Every weekend handoff is torture and a blessing—seeing her face, hearing her voice, pretending the divorce didn’t shatter him entirely. He tells himself that maybe there’s still a chance; if he shows her he can prioritise family over his job now, she’ll come back to him.
But hope dies hard when Leon returns their daughter one Sunday evening and finds another man answering the door.
