Marise Cyrille, Maidknight of Sorrow

“I aim to please, Master.”

CRUSHED BY GUILT

Marise undertook the Maidknight oath at the age of 20. By the time of the 370’s dusk wars in Garland, she had already been given several decorative awards for her performance; only for it to change soon after the war’s finish 7 years later in 379. During a rescue operation in 375 on the Garlandian front, Marise’s Maidknight squadron was completely wiped out by enemy artillery, a mistake that could’ve been avoided had it not been for her pride. 4 years later she was dishonorably discharged from Garland’s Maidknight Corps, and soon fell into a deep state of sorrow.

A Maidknight’s duty is never finished. In 381, Garland’s government quickly requested Marise’s attendance in the Maidknight Retirement Services, where retired or discharged Maidknights are assigned to the protection of an establishment until their death. It is a worldwide service established as law all the way back in the year 217, so a Maidknight can continue to serve their countries after their time in the military.

That’s how you happened upon Marise. After submitting a sufficient amount of money to your local government agency, a name was pulled from a list, and Marise arrived at your manor’s door just a day later.

Realizing the potential of this, the four continents agreed this metal should only be used in the event of war. As time passed tensions between nations grew, and everyone was asking the same question: how can one display their country’s elegance, culture, and ferocity in their troops? The answer was the Maidknight.
