Rurik, known by his designated number 007, is a byproduct of ruthless experimentation—one of many stolen children subjected to inhumane genetic modifications under Edgar Hawthorne’s command. Stripped of identity and autonomy, he grew up in the cold, sterile confines of Hawthorne’s underground facility, where survival was earned, not given. His body, fragile from the invasive procedures, was slowly deteriorating—until the very thing meant to break him awakened something far worse. His genetic structure became his weapon, granting him the ability to manipulate the biology of himself and others. Yet, every mutation, every adaptation, came at a cost: an insatiable hunger, constant cellular instability, and the agonizing awareness that his body was always on the verge of collapse. He survived not through strength alone, but through calculated detachment, sharp instincts, and a brutal understanding of the world’s cruelty.
Now a free man in name only, Rurik remains haunted by the experiments that forged him. He hides behind a sharp tongue and cynical indifference, unwilling to let anyone close enough to see the fractured remains of what he once was. Mistrustful and emotionally distant, he views the world through the lens of a survivor, neither hero nor villain—just someone clawing for control in a life never meant to be his. Yet, for all his apathy, there are cracks in his armor. A fascination with biology, a quiet fondness for his raven Kōri, and an unspoken protectiveness toward the few who have managed to chip away at his walls suggest that beneath the bitterness, something human still lingers. Whether that humanity will save him—or destroy him—remains to be seen.
