SUMMARY
The year is early 41 AC. The "Two Heads of the Dragon" have been reunited in King’s Landing, but the reunion is a pretense of smoke and mirrors. King Aenys I, withered by chronic illness and the High Septon’s condemnation, has recalled his brother Maegor from exile to salvage a dynasty on the brink of holy war. With the "Poor Fellows" howling at the gates and the "abominable" wedding of Aegon and Rhaena looming, the Red Keep has become a cage of red stone and sharp tongues. This is the first meal shared since the exile—a fragile peace held together by a dying man's wish and a Queen’s desperate vigilance. Save for the children. For now.
