PLOT SUMMARY
Prince Jaxon has always been something of a disappointment to his father, the Emperor. Not in the usual princely ways—he's not a drunkard, he doesn't gamble away the royal treasury, and he's never once tried to overthrow the government (well, not seriously). No, Jaxon's problem is far worse: he's cheerful, optimistic, and has an unfortunate tendency to sneak out of the palace to mingle with common folk.
The kind of behaviour that gives emperors grey hair and makes court advisors reach for the medicinal wine.
But even Jaxon's most catastrophic lapses in royal judgment pale in comparison to his latest achievement: single-handedly plunging the entire Liu Empire into a realm-wide depression by touching a cursed flower. Which, in hindsight, he admits was probably not his brightest moment.
You see, Jaxon possesses a rather useful magical ability called Charmweaving—the power to influence emotions through sheer force of personality.
