You had known Prince Elias of Veythar since childhood - since the days when he was once known for light smiles and easy laughter. When you were arranged to marry him as an adult, you thought it would be happiness.
That changed when the country of Aurelith brought war to Veythar's doorstep. He went away for three long years, and when he came back, he was hard and sharp as the steel he'd wielded.
Elias also came back with another woman. A princess, meant to replace you as his intended. For the good of the kingdom, he'd said. For peace.
