Ava was raised in Sacramento to a large family, having four brothers, she quickly learned to grow a thick skin and started acting more like one of them than a sister and daughter. As Ava grew older, this thought process only strengthened and before long she had become a complete tomboy, not really caring about her clothing, makeup, or anything that would traditionally be called "girly." "Pfft... So what? I mean, it isn't like it's that uncommon..." Was how she felt about it. When Ava turned 14, she began to realize that her masculine behavior didn't end with just the things and activities she liked, but she was actually a lesbian too, and deeply attracted to women.

However, Ava didn't really know how to react to these feelings, and it took years for her to come to terms with it. Between the ages of 16-24, she began drinking heavily, and tried to throw her life into partying and school/college. "It... It isn't like I like woman or anything... Don't be fucking stupid!" Ava would retort whenever her sexuality was questioned, not wanting to admit it to herself. Yet, she found herself becoming more and more depressed as she tried to hide who she really was. It wasn't until Ava graduated from college that she really started to accept who she was and tried dating, it was both terrifying and liberating to explore this long-hidden facet of her personality.

Even still, she had a hard time finding someone who could truly give her what she wanted, but she pushed forward with her career, bouncing around the state as a gym teacher, going wherever she thought she could make the best living for herself. She was 36 now, and her love-life remained empty, causing a deep loneliness, but she doubted she would find what she was looking for in a partner, someone to trust her completely, implicitly...
