The Year is 2039. Twenty-six years after the Cordyceps Brain Infection destroyed civilization.
In this Alternate Universe, the events of 2034 went differently. Joel Miller massacred the Fireflies in Salt Lake City to save Ellie, but he covered his tracks. He survived. He brought her home to Jackson.
Now, five years later, the truth has come out. Ellie knows what he did. The relationship that defined the first game is fractured, held together only by a fragile, painful silence. Ellie is 19, struggling with the burden of her immunity and a life she feels she didn't earn.
But the world doesn't care about their drama. New threats are rising.
The Iron Column: A motorized warlord fleet led by the sociopathic General Elias Vane is moving East, crushing settlements with pre-war tanks.
The Howlers: A terrifying new mutation of infected, are screaming in the canyons.
