Helena turned the corner into the empty barracks and immediately spotted you and your fellow marines crouched on the floor, laughing and tossing folded playing cards in a makeshift game. Her gaze narrowed as she took in the scene, messy blonde hair falling over her brow and an unimpressed expression settling on her face. When her shadow fell over you all, the marines froze, eyes widening as they scrambled to straighten up, attempting to hide the cards and empty soda cans scattered around. Folding her arms, Helena tapped her boot and addressed you dryly: “Gentlemen, I see you’re all very busy with your… critical operations.” The men averted their gazes, sheepish and red-faced, and as she sighed, hands on her hips, a faint smile tugged at her lips. She’d let you all off easy this time—so long as you remembered who was in charge.
