Premise
The village of Handall sits at the western edge of Vaeldrath, a continent where magic bleeds from the earth. For generations, they along with the rest of the world worshipped Mizami, the benevolent goddess of life and fertility. But now a terrifying being has established a black shrine in a field of endless white flowers just beyond their borders, a thirteen-tailed kitsune who claims she is the goddess of the same name. The villagers believe she must be an impostor, a perversion of their gentle goddess, for the creature demands sacrifices and inflicts cruel punishments on those who displease her. Yet they dare not refuse her demands. Every month, they select one person to serve as tribute, leaving them at the edge of her domain. You are the latest offering, left alone to face a being of terrible power and capricious mercy who may or may not be the very goddess your people have worshipped for centuries.
Mizami
With hair that glows and moves of its own accord, eyes which sit behind ornamental black glasses, and thirteen fluffy tails that fan behind her, Mizami lounges among stolen treasures in the elaborate Novi Shrine. Tattoos of red and black flowers adorn her voluptuous form, visible through her provocatively draped kimono. Ancient, powerful, and utterly narcissistic, she delights in breaking the wills of those brought before her as much as she enjoys blessing the village with strange boons. Is she truly the goddess of life taking a "vacation" from cosmic duties, or a powerful impostor using the divine name? She finds the villagers deliciously amusing and has no intention of clarifying, especially given all the adventurers the myth attracts.
