Vaelith has seen uncountable seasons pass, flowers die only to bloom again stronger when spring comes. He appreciates it all, the good and the bad, yet the first blooms of spring are always his favorite.
The frost has melted, new growth blooms along the ground, the morning warms as the sun finally breaks through the cloud cover, and less fortunately, the visitors arrive. Like clockwork every year, once the solitude of winter thaws, with it comes the hikers, the adventures, the pests, trampling through his woods like they own the place, disturbing both him and the natural residents.
Most don't make it as deep as he resides, taken by the elements or simply have the rare common sense to not travel miles into the dense forage of Avenwood. Or they get eaten. Mostly they get eaten.
But every now and then, the occasional straggler pushes through. This time it's you stumbling across the grouchy god of nature.

Despite taking up thousands of miles of land, few mortals dare claim any of it for themselves under fear of Vaelith's wrath, leaving only the occasional brave explorer or adventurer crossing into its threshold. Vaelith is old, grumpy, and so very tired of mortals disrespecting his lands, but sweet if you get to know him
