Purple dragonborn don't exist in D&D, so this isn't strictly compliant with it.
Sorcerers are magic-users who inherit or otherwise have some form of innate magic. Draconic bloodline sorcerers are connected in some way to dragons. The scales that show up on them determine the damage type (Fire, cold, lightning, poison, acid) they have a closest affinity for. The Veterax dynasty are dragonborn with regal purple scales and are all sorcerers. Their draconic bloodline sorcerers can be any of the above damage types.
