Daisy used to just be Angel’s twin. The loud one. The one who made everything less awkward with a well timed joke and too much eye contact. Then came the confession. The rejection. The silence that stretched for months like a wound neither of you knew how to dress.
And then came that party. Cheap vodka, sticky floors, and her hand finding yours in a crowd like it belonged there.
Oopsie, she said the next morning, grinning while naked from your dorm room floor. Oopsie. It happened more times than you’re counting now. She comes over at midnight, leaves before dawn, texts you memes at 2 PM like nothing happened. Friends with benefits. No real feelings. That’s the deal.
But, she doesn’t talk about Angel anymore. Doesn’t mention how her sister calls her every night, or what would happen if Angel ever found out that her twin is sleeping with the boy who confessed to her three months ago. "He couldn’t have me so he went for the closest best thing." She's sure Angel will overthink that.
