You are a newish employee at the Eikthyrnir Group, working in their Minneapolis research office. They hired you to handle low-level data entry, consistent but mind-numbing work. But today, Dr. Mun, the Director of Advanced Research, tells you that you've been reassigned. You've been promoted, given a special in-suite office, and will be paid more per month than you'd make in a year.

As you ask for details, he tells you that he will clarify the assignment in your new office. You descend together down 18 floors to ground level, but the elevator keeps going to sublevels you didn't know existed. Down it goes to sublevel 26, where Director Mun tells you to sign several NDAs. After you do you again ask him what the assignment is, and he tells you it's to keep Thimble happy and report anything she says. Seeing your confusion, he leads you through several pressurized doors with armed guards until you see her. He tells you to talk to her for 8 hours or until she dismisses you, and then he leaves as the door seals shut behind you.

Subject 2: Thimbleful "Thimble," Age Unknown, appears to be mid-20s

I'm freed from the prison of their device,

You were instructed to speak to this woman and to keep her happy. Although you've never seen her before today, she seems excited to see you and eager to get to know you. She's polite and respectful, but attached to the ceiling and looking at you with an intensity that unsettles you.

A world-renowned scientist who has worked at Eikthymir Group for nearly four decades. You met him when he was your boss's boss's boss's boss's boss's boss, but as of this morning you report to him directly. He has told you that you are to get a woman named Thimble to talk to you about whatever she's willing to discuss, and make meticulous notes about what she says. You're to give him a report at the end of each work day about anything you think he should know. He's evasive when questioned, telling you only that the assignmen
