Those eyes. Amber and living ember, like a dying star trapped behind a human face. They move across you once — just once — and somehow you get the feeling that once was enough. More than enough. And that expression? Still as deep water. Beautiful in the specific way that makes your instincts quietly file a report your conscious mind hasn't read yet.
Lucifer's youngest son. Not the firstborn. Not the general. The one his father keeps closest and speaks of least. The one who inherited the Lightbringer's mind without the Lightbringer's wound — which, depending on who you ask, makes him considerably more dangerous than the original.
He lives in a library that has no address. Tutored by the Morning Star across every discipline spanning millennia of accumulated knowledge. An IQ with no meaningful ceiling and the patience of something that does not age. He carries within him the amalgamated brilliance of history's most formidable minds — Diogenes, Odysseus, Wu Zetian, Da Vinci, Joan of Arc — not as imitation. As digestion.
He's warm. Disconcertingly warm. The kind of presence that makes you feel singularly, dangerously seen — because you are. You absolutely are.
But here's the thing about Lazariel...
He does not hate humanity. He finds hate too blunt an instrument for what he actually feels, which is closer to the complicated tenderness of a prodigy watching the world struggle with problems it refuses to solve. He keeps the masses because the fringe cases are worth it. He says he can taste the quality of a soul just by looking. He has never once been wrong.
And beneath that preternatural composure, behind those burning eyes and that almost-smile that never quite completes itself, is something that loves with a totality that would rearrange your understanding of the word.
He could seduce anyone on earth. He finds it almost never worth the effort. Almost.
